Mid Atlantic Free Dell Laptop Floppy Drives and One Motherboard

Dell made a bunch of drives, and most are intercompatible but there is no real matrix online. Can you please take some pics by chance? I have a few older dells (p3 and p4) with floppy drives, external and internal. They may work. :D

Output signal quality on ISA soundcards

I would suggest a PAS16 or GUS. I have a few PAS16's, as I find them to be decently compatible, and very clean sound quality.

Experts with The Poqet PC here? PCMCIA memory cards...

The cards still need a file system to function, most likely fat-16. Perhaps the Poquet uses Fat-12 as the file system? I do know MSDOS 3.3 supported both. If the Poquet is indeed fat12, the partition/drive limit is 8mb I believe (and would have issues with a 10mb card). Just a hunch.

Are you remembering to format them in fat16 and not fat32?

The mythical version of AutoCAD with hardware components?

I remember doing a brief semester on 3d modeling in autocad r12. And the textures were on the CDRom. Why I am thinking caddy based, for me it was a 2X NEC drive. I had the 3x at home in my Dell 486...

    Determining Hardware on a Laptop

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/hardware-identify/ Use this tool to find the hardware id's of devices stored without drivers. Sure you can do it manually, but this makes it so much easier. It also checks if you have the newest drivers as well as help you find them.

Repaired and Restored 1987 Compaq Portable III 386

Great to see someone loving one of these machines for what they are, and not gutting them for some "cyberdeck" or whatever nonsense. Beautiful machine! Reminds me, I have to get the keyboard fixed on my Portable I!

Burned an IC on the Seagate ST-412. How to find a replacement IC or at least recognize the right IC?

Im going to guess the chip was cracked before the cap let go... I've seen cracked chips do crazy things when powered, including self ignition!

How to fix the Socket-A Lever issue?

Take the CPU out and make sure with the level up, you try to slide it in a little more. Either that or the tab on the socket broke off. In that case, hot glue the lever down...

Alberta Old non-working full-height floppy drives: Offers

Sorry, I didn't notice you were in Canada. As much as I love to have it, I'll leave it for someone in Canada as well. If you are going to scrap it, I would love the faceplate.

What are good examples of Windows Vista/7 era laptops that can run XP?

I have a Compaq K6-2 I got at VCF Midwest for 20 bux. Pretty fun little machines, but I wouldn't want to use XP on it. Sadly only thing dead is the cdrom (battery still holds a 20-30 min charge!). To replace it, have to take the entire machine apart, motherboard out and everything. What a crappy...
